Self-Introduction

My Academic Path

In 2020, I graduated from Saint Peter Marian High school from Worcester, MA and attended Purdue University. My undergraduate studies at Purdue University at the beginning was unsatisfied. Both the environmental changes and the impact of COVID-19 put a lot of pressure on me. Everything is online and college life is totally different. I finally got through making new friends, either in the club, or in the school restaurant. Gradually, I have adapted to the teaching and learning environment and the pace at Purdue. In my second year of undergraduate, I joined in several projects such as Computer Vision and SoCET (System on Chip Extension Technology) and had teaching assistant opportunities. These experiences brought me to the field that I really hope to work on, which are semiconductor and circuit design. In the later year in my undergrad, I focused on all the project and course that related to these areas and took 18 more credit hours each semester. With hardworking and time management, I graduated in 2024 with my happy face on the stage with the president of ECE department. I hold my bachelor's degree and felt like it is just a starting point, there are so many things I don't know that I would love to know. The more I learnt, the more it hidden underground. Like I only saw the tip of the iceberg.

I finally made my decision to graduate school in Purdue University since I believed that I want to know more and curious about the deeper knowledge, as well as state of art technology in semiconductor and more complex circuits.

My Personal Life

In my personal life, I like to challenge myself even if the workload is heavy because I feel that all things. I learn today will one day be applied and ultimately contribute to my future success. I studied German as my third language just because I heard someone said German is very hard. As a beginner, I struggled with vocabulary and grammar. But I told myself not to give up, but to consistently use it in daily life. I kept practicing and practicing after school, at home, and on the internet. Finally, after 1 month, I felt I could handle it well. I can speak, I can write, I can use it everywhere, even though I still make mistakes.

I also joined the Toastmasters Club so I could practice my public speaking. I felt it is significant to being a fluent speaker in United States. It is useful in academic and career. After two years of practice, I have more confidence to express myself on stage and finally become an official member who will help more people develop their public speaking and impromptu speaking skills.

Teaching is also a new thing for me and something I would like to challenge. I never knew how to teach before. When I taught the class, I found that understanding was quite different from explaining to others as it may lead to accidents. Once a student asked me a question during office hours and I did not know the answer. I stared at the question and embarrassingly told him that I needed to check it online. By the time I was ready to tell him, he had already asked another TA and got the correct answer. Since then, I prepared for each lab like a difficult exam, and I can answer about ninety percent of the questions students asked.

I am a person who likes to push myself out of my comfort zone with full of curiosity and thinking, from not knowing anything about research to being able to contribute to projects, from a German starter to a sufficient German speaker, from not knowing how to communicate to be a confident speaker, from don’t know how to teach at all to having enough experience and answering all the questions. I don't know what the definition of success, but I think I am on the way.
